At a time when ecological transition is a global and crucial issue, the tertiary sector still has important levers for optimisation. Indeed, it would be one of the largest energy consumers worldwide.
In France, according to official statistics issued by the Ministry of Ecology, 46% of electricity consumption comes from the buildings sector. It is in this context that the Tertiary Decree was born in France, in order to considerably reduce the environmental footprint of buildings.
What is the tertiary decree?
- A regulatory obligation committing tertiary sector players to energy sobriety
- Gradual reduction of energy consumption in tertiary buildings to combat climate change
- An obligation imposed on tenants and owners of commercial buildings over 1,000 sq.m. to reduce their energy consumption (effective from October 1, 2019 and supplemented by decree on April 10, 2020).
